Abu Dhabi agency dramatically improves efficiency of highly effective backup solution

Musanada, an Abu Dhabi government real estate and services company supporting construction and facilities management, was protecting roughly 100 TB of critical project data with an older NetBackup deployment. Backups were often missing their windows, tape-based processes were slow, and the IT team had to run a separate product for SQL Server — creating operational strain for the small three-person team.

Working with Veritas and MDS UAE, Musanada deployed a Veritas NetBackup Appliance, consolidated and automated protection across VMware, databases and applications, and enabled role-based access for DBAs. The upgrade cut a 17 TB VM’s incremental backup from 12–24 hours to about 20 minutes, sped restores by ~66% (some large restores fell from eight days to under 20 hours), achieved 99% deduplication, eliminated the third‑party SQL tool, and delivered roughly AED 300,000 (~US$82,000) in annual savings.
