WWK Lebensversicherung, a Munich-based mutual insurer serving about 1.3 million customers, needed to replace an aging backup infrastructure with a future-oriented, cloud-ready solution that was cost-efficient, easily scalable and simple for a small IT team to manage.

WWK chose Fujitsu and Veritas—deploying a Veritas FLEX Appliance 5340 HA (480 TB) with Veritas NetBackup—after joint workshops and a proof of concept. The integrated system cut average backup time from 1.5 hours to about 5 minutes (≈25× faster), reduced RTOs by up to 60× through VM boot-from-backup and granular restores, simplified administration with a single point of contact, and delivered a scalable, cloud-ready backup architecture.
