Case Study: Louisiana Citizens achieves faster, more consistent catastrophe claims handling with Verisk (Xactware) solutions

A Verisk Case Study

Preview of the Louisiana Citizens Case Study

Transforming Catastrophe Claims Handling

Louisiana Citizens, a Louisiana residual market insurer, faced recurring catastrophe challenges after Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav: inconsistent estimates, inefficient assignment workflows, and no way to monitor adjuster activity in real time. To address these gaps the carrier turned to Verisk, leveraging Xactware’s solutions—notably Xactimate and XactAnalysis—to standardize inspections and improve claims intake and tracking.

Verisk implemented an integrated platform linking XactAnalysis with Louisiana Citizens’ first‑notice‑of‑loss system and requiring external adjusters to use Xactimate, adding real‑time updates, auditing algorithms, alerts and management reporting. The result: when Hurricane Isaac struck, Louisiana Citizens managed 15 firms and 400 adjusters and closed 94% of claims in under 60 days (vs. 47% after Gustav), while improving consistency, vendor oversight and speed of response.
