Case Study: Com Hem (Scandinavia’s largest cable operator) achieves Europe’s smartest secure multi-screen TV service with Verimatrix VCAS

A Verimatrix Case Study

Preview of the Com Hem Case Study

How Com Hem created Europe's Smartest TV Service

Com Hem, Scandinavia’s largest cable operator, set out to create a unified, multi-screen TV service that combines linear channels, VOD and OTT into a single, easy-to-navigate experience while meeting strict content-licensing and anti-piracy requirements. To secure this hybrid offering and manage rights across broadcast, IPTV and Internet delivery, Com Hem partnered with Verimatrix and adopted Verimatrix’s VCAS (Video Content Authority System) and ViewRight client technology alongside the TiVo user interface.

Verimatrix implemented a single security authority with cardless VCAS head-end encryption and ViewRight clients across STBs, iOS/Android and PC/Mac, integrated with the TiVo platform to protect entitlements, enable HLS support and forensic watermarking. The solution helped Com Hem rapidly deploy TiVo from October 2013, achieving over 100,000 TiVo customers (a 17.1% penetration of its digital TV base), extending services to mobile devices and supporting Com Hem’s reach into roughly 39% of Swedish households.
