Volkswagen Bank, acting as a commercial network provider in Germany, wanted to “offer customers convenience and choice at checkout” by adding contactless payments for its Volkswagen Visa card. To support Visa payWave contactless transactions the bank needed upgraded terminals and continued its partnership with Verifone, deploying Verifone’s H5000 payment devices with integrated NFC/CTLS, a large color touchscreen, PCI PTS 3.0 approval, multiple connectivity options, and a fast processor.

Verifone’s H5000 devices enabled Volkswagen Bank cardholders to pay bills by simply holding their Volkswagen Visa card to the terminal display, completing transactions within seconds. The Verifone solution delivered immediate consumer convenience, broader payment flexibility for business partners, and helped accelerate adoption of contactless payments across the bank’s acceptance points—forming a strong basis for nationwide contactless rollout.
