Tourvest, a duty‑free inflight retail operator serving 48 million passengers across 286 routes, needed a more user‑friendly, secure payment experience for cabin crew and passengers that supported chip & PIN, contactless and loyalty programmes while meeting strict aviation payment security standards. To achieve this, Tourvest partnered with Verifone (Verifone Africa) to update its inflight retail platform using Verifone hardware and managed payment services.

Verifone integrated a point‑of‑sale app with Tourvest’s tablet catalogue and deployed the Verifone e355 mPOS (with barcode scanner), a Bluetooth mobile printer, a custom tablet frame, EMV‑compliant software reconfiguration and the Verifone Gateway (PCI P2PE, pre‑accredited for UK acquirers). The solution delivered faster, secure transactions, real‑time transaction and terminal management, warehouse integration for improved stock traceability, enabled Apple Pay and has been rolled out at scale (about 2,000 units to a UK client and ~400 units for a large African airline), significantly streamlining Tourvest’s inflight retail operations.
