Protecex, a technology company that provides interactive, unattended kiosks, needed a user-friendly payment option that would reduce cash on site to lower theft and vandalism, withstand inclement weather, and support a range of services to improve user experience. The company selected Verifone’s UX family of payment modules (UX 100 PIN pad, UX 300 controller, and UX 400 NFC/contactless reader) for indoor and outdoor unattended machines.

Verifone’s UX solutions, integrated with software from partner Redsys, enabled secure EMV- and PCI-compliant card and mobile wallet payments, quick transactions, and compact, weather‑tolerant installations. As a result, Protecex eliminated the need for cash at disposal points (important for foreign tourists), expanded paid services, reduced development and maintenance costs via lower total cost of ownership, gained actionable consumer buying data, and plans to roll out more sites across Spain, the EU and Latin America.
