Linea Comune - Customer Case Study

Linea Comune, the company that manages local services for Florence, faced long queues and complex single‑ticket sales at popular museums and cultural sites. They engaged Verifone to find a simple, smart, and cost‑effective technology solution, resulting in the Firenzecard contactless card and the use of Verifone’s touchscreen color VX 680 device to sell and activate cards.

Verifone implemented the Firenzecard system—a 72‑hour contactless access card activated by tapping on the VX 680, which also handles sales, replacements and electronic payments. The solution has enabled about 1.5 million unique visits, 180,000 activated cards covering roughly 60 museums and monuments, eliminated many entry queues, expanded access to new sites, and measurably improved the tourist experience in Florence.
