Case Study: NALA (Tanzanian fintech) achieves secure, inclusive access to financial services with Veriff identity verification

A Veriff Case Study

Preview of the NALA Case Study

NALA takes their service to another level with Veriff for identity verification

NALA, a Y Combinator‑backed Tanzanian fintech with a personal finance app used by over 250,000 people, sought to expand secure remittance services for the African diaspora and remove identity-related barriers to digital financial access. To meet KYC requirements for UK customers sending money to Kenya and Uganda, NALA partnered with Veriff to deliver inclusive, reliable identity verification.

Veriff supplied its identity verification platform — capable of verifying over 9,000 government IDs from 190+ countries (including 50+ African countries), with ethnicity‑neutral face comparison, adaptive decision thresholds for lower‑quality documents, and a 30‑nationality manual fallback team — enabling NALA to roll out a beta remittance offering from February 2021. The Veriff integration gave NALA the scale and accuracy to onboard diaspora customers securely, supporting its mission to broaden digital financial access for its user base.
