A Vericut Case Study
Sandvik Coromant's Gimo production facility, a leader in manufacturing metal-cutting tools, sought to increase energy efficiency and reduce cycle times as part of its ambition to become carbon-neutral by 2035. To achieve this, the company turned to the vendor Vericut and its VERICUT Force software for machining optimization.
The solution from Vericut involved using its physics-based VERICUT Force software to analyse and optimise cutting conditions during the machining process. This implementation resulted in a 15.3% reduction in energy consumption and a 12% reduction in cycle time for the tested product. For a single machine, this translated to an annual energy saving of over 10,000 kWh and a financial saving of approximately €3,000 per year, demonstrating massive potential savings across the facility's 400 machines.
