A Vericut Case Study
The Nuclear AMRC, an advanced manufacturing research center backed by Innovate UK, faces the challenge of safely machining extremely large, high-value, and often one-off components for the nuclear and other heavy industries. Working with expensive materials and massive machine tools that are difficult to replace, there is no margin for error. They turned to vendor CGTech and its VERICUT CNC simulation software to eliminate the risk of costly collisions and machining errors by verifying all toolpaths in a virtual environment first.
By implementing CGTech's VERICUT, the Nuclear AMRC ensured all NC programs were proven safe through accurate simulation before running on any machine. The solution was expanded with the VERICUT Force module, which allowed engineers to analyze and optimize cutting forces to prevent tool wear and extend tool life, leading to predictable, safe, and efficient machining processes. This has provided the center with a robust and reliable method to de-risk high-value manufacturing for its clients, ensuring consistent results and protecting multi-million-pound equipment.
