Baskins Machined Products aerospace shop adapts to pandemic, project interruptions

Baskins Machined Products (BMP), a 20-person aerospace job shop, faced significant risk after dedicating 14 machines to the grounded Boeing 737 MAX program. With a growing team of programmers and a multi-million dollar investment in equipment, the potential for costly machine crashes from programming errors was high. To mitigate this, they implemented Vericut simulation and optimization software from CGTech to verify toolpaths before they reached the shop floor.

The Vericut solution allowed BMP's programmers to simulate and perfect machining processes in a virtual environment, preventing tooling interference and machine over-travels. All six of the shop's programmers now use Vericut for 100% of their work, integrating it deeply into their development process. While the team no longer tracks specific savings, they know the software provides immense value by safeguarding their machinery and enabling confident, upfront decision-making, with their only regret being that they did not implement Vericut sooner.
