Northwell Health, New York State’s largest healthcare provider serving 2M+ patients, struggled with a growing queue of “potential duplicate” patient records flagged by its enterprise master patient index (EMPI). These unresolved duplicates increased claims denials, risk to patient safety, and administrative burden, so Northwell turned to Verato and its Verato Auto-Steward solution to address the problem.
Verato Auto-Steward, using Referential Matching and deployed alongside Northwell’s EMPI, automatically resolved duplicates without disrupting existing workflows; in a pilot it eliminated 87% of the potential-duplicate task queue. By using Verato, Northwell reduced manual review work, freed staff for higher-value activities, and put processes in place to keep duplicate records at an all-time low.
