A Veradigm Case Study
UPMC, one of the largest health systems in the U.S., needed a way to connect disparate HIT and EHR systems across inpatient and ambulatory settings to improve clinical decision-making at every patient encounter. Working with Veradigm’s dbMotion interoperability solution, UPMC aimed to unify data from multiple sources, including Epic, Cerner, and dozens of other systems, into a patient-centered record.
Veradigm implemented a dbMotion-powered interoperability platform that aggregated data across UPMC, UPMC Health Plan, and ClinicalConnect HIE, creating a seamless view of patient information for clinicians. The results included 78 systems and 133 interfaces contributing data, 14,000 users accessing records about 125,000 times per month, and a survey showing two out of three clinicians said the comprehensive data changed care decisions and helped prevent duplicate tests and services.
