Case Study: Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust achieves seamless HIS go‑live and improved patient safety with Veradigm

Preparation and teamwork enable successful deployment

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) needed to replace several incompatible systems that limited growth and clinical documentation, e-prescribing and ordering capabilities. WWL selected Allscripts and its Allscripts Sunrise™ health information system to provide a single, integrated platform to capture and view electronic records, manage medications and support diagnostic orders across its hospitals and outpatient sites.

Allscripts implemented Sunrise with a big‑bang go‑live across five sites on 28 June 2016, after loading 32.5 million documents, training about 4,000 staff and running stress tests and 24/7 support. The deployment maintained WWL’s overall 95% four‑hour A&E target during the first two weeks, showed minimal discharge issues, and delivered more accessible, standardized records, safer medication management and improved clinical decision support — outcomes WWL attributes to the Allscripts Sunrise solution.
