Johnson Controls - Customer Case Study

In 2009 Veolia North America was engaged by Johnson Controls to provide hazardous and non-hazardous waste services across 150 of JCI’s manufacturing and service locations in North America. The challenge was to execute a long-term, multi-site national program that combined Veolia’s self-performed services with third‑party brokering while meeting JCI’s KPIs for compliance, low management costs, centralized customer service/AP/billing/reporting, and improved sustainability performance.

Veolia North America deployed a dedicated Milwaukee-based team, centralized customer service and AP/billing functions, used its proprietary web-based customer information management tool for reporting, brokered approved third‑party providers, delivered emergency response and expanded recycling through site audits and standardized “Recycle Across America” signage. The program delivered measurable impact — over $200,000 in solid waste management savings in 2010, expansion of the contract to 150+ additional branch locations and several sites in six European countries, and multiple Johnson Controls supplier awards.
