A Veolia North America Case Study

Preview of the The Galleria Case Study

Facility Operations at Houston Shopping Center

The Galleria, a major shopping center in Houston, engaged Veolia North America in 2005 to solve the challenge of operating and maintaining complex, mission‑critical facility systems—central chiller plants, a public ice rink, extensive HVAC, life‑safety and electrical infrastructure, and common‑area operations—requiring comprehensive technical management and reliable chilling capacity.

Veolia North America provided a full technical management solution, supplying 16 on‑site staff and delivering O&M for chilled water and heating equipment, building automation, ice rink systems, domestic water, HVAC, plumbing, life‑safety, electrical distribution, garage lighting and sub‑metering. The engagement produces measurable capacity and resilience: 10,850 tons of chilled water capacity, 3,800 lb/hr steam production and 2 MW of backup generation, while ensuring continuous chilling for the public ice rink and ongoing common‑area maintenance.
