The state of Connecticut faced significant challenges in managing energy data for its extensive building portfolio. Manually processing invoices stored across multiple databases was nearly impossible due to the sheer volume, and the lack of an integrated system complicated budgeting. Veolia North America's consulting group, SourceOne, was hired to design a centralized energy data management solution.

Veolia North America implemented the Building Energy Evaluation System (BEES), an integrated database that electronically processes invoice data. This solution allowed the state to efficiently track and manage energy usage and costs across its agencies. The results were substantial: Veolia processed over 275,000 invoices for 5,000 accounts, providing detailed utility information for 3,800 locations and significantly streamlining the state's budgeting and reporting accuracy.
