A Veolia North America Case Study
The City of Arvin, California faced an energy-intensive wastewater treatment plant, with electricity costs making up about 30% of operating expenses. To reduce costs, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and improve reliability, the city worked with Veolia North America on a solar energy project for the wastewater treatment facility.
Veolia North America helped implement a solar power system that is expected to generate 1 megawatt of electricity, enough to power the plant and equivalent to the needs of about 750 homes. The project is projected to eliminate about 1,000 metric tons of CO2 and save the city $230,000 in year one and $30 million over 30 years, with up to 40% of costs covered by Inflation Reduction Act funding.
