Leading U.S. Hospital Company, a world-class patient-centered academic hospital campus comprising three hospitals and research space, faced the need for uninterrupted, resilient energy amid increasing extreme weather and utility outages. The organization partnered with Veolia North America to develop a new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant; Veolia is providing pre‑operations technical consultation, commissioning project management and will operate the plant under a five‑year O&M contract.

Veolia North America’s CHP microgrid will supply 100% of the campus’s electricity, heat, hot water, sterilization and humidification with 13 MW of generation and 165,000 lbs/hr of steam, enabling full self‑sufficiency during utility interruptions. The solution is expected to cut campus emissions by about 50% (the equivalent of removing over 4,600 cars annually) and deliver substantial operating savings.
