Veolia North America provided an oily residual management solution for a major refinery in Louisiana. The refinery's challenge was to find a sustainable process for handling its oil-bearing secondary materials, which would reduce environmental risk and recover valuable oil.

The solution implemented by Veolia combined a patented three-phase centrifuge process with a thermal desorption unit. This recycling process recovered an estimated 31,000 barrels of oil per year for the client and transformed the waste into a delisted, non-hazardous solid, significantly reducing hazardous waste disposal costs and liabilities. Veolia North America also maintained an excellent safety record at the facility.
