Calgary Catholic School District - Customer Case Study

Calgary Catholic School District, a member of the Urban Schools Insurance Consortium (USIC) of 13 Alberta school boards, faced inconsistent, spreadsheet-based event reporting that hindered trend analysis and timely injury/hazard reporting. To standardize and centralize reporting across the consortium, the district selected Ventiv Technology’s iVOS Event Management solution to provide a browser-based, secure platform with role-based access and configurable workflows.

Ventiv Technology implemented iVOS with business rules, automated severity ratings (1–5), save-as-draft, and email alerts to route incidents to the right staff. As a result, Calgary Catholic went live December 1, 2010 and now processes about 5,000 event reports annually (roughly 10% reportable), sped up WCB-mandated reporting, improved its WCB rating and reduced related costs; USIC-wide data (≈40,000 events/year) is expected to better inform risk mitigation, lower losses and optimize insurance placement.
