Formulate, a next-generation personal care and pharmaceuticals manufacturer, needed an autonomous, remotely controlled bottle filling machine that could be quickly retooled or expanded for future product lines while fitting a small footprint for high-traffic retail locations. To solve this, they partnered with Vention and initially explored an off-the-shelf 2-axis machine, but it lacked the modularity they needed to scale over time.

Vention built a 2-axis overhead gantry powered by a MachineMotion controller, with custom software layered on the Vention API to make the system remotely accessible through Formulate’s customer-facing app. The solution supports up to 80 ingredients, enables last-minute scent or allergy adjustments before dispensing, and is designed for future expansion with planned robotic arm and infeed automation; the project had just 8 hours of design time and 12 hours of assembly, with commissioning completed in 35 days.
