Cyngor Sir Ceredigion - Customer Case Study

Cyngor Sir Ceredigion County Council, which provides ICT services to 50 schools and around 10,000 pupils in rural Wales, faced tight budgets and needed to reduce equipment redundancy and the operational overhead of local backups and tapes. To centralize backup management across schools with limited on-site technicians and slow WAN links, they chose Vembu and deployed the Vembu BDR Suite (including Vembu NetworkBackup) to protect file servers and Windows systems.

Vembu implemented a centralized backup architecture that streams data to local central storage with seeding options for initial backups and a web console for management. As a result, Cyngor Sir Ceredigion can recover files in minutes, perform complex or full-server restores when required, manage upgrades for roughly 60 servers from a single interface, and avoid tape/local-equipment costs—benefiting from Vembu’s responsive support and ongoing product improvements.
