Väike-Maarja Municipality marks 200 years of Wiedemann with Velvet

The Väike-Maarja Municipality had a unique park, Keeletammik (Language Grove), where esteemed writers had planted trees, but the site lacked a comprehensive system of signage to tell its cultural story. The municipality engaged vendor Velvet to design a durable and inspiring wayfinding solution that celebrated the park's significance and was easy to update as new laureates were added.

Velvet created a distinctive signage system featuring nameplates made of oak that were designed to resemble bookmarks, symbolizing each laureate's contribution to linguistic history. They also installed new information boards throughout the park areas. The result was a warm, readable, and inviting environment that transformed the previously unmarked grove into an explorable cultural space, successfully honoring its heritage for the community.
