A Velvet Case Study
The Estonian Maritime Museum faced the challenge of creating a compelling 90th-anniversary exhibition with a very limited historical record, relying on only a dozen photos and memories to tell the story of its founding, glory, and pre-WWII closure. The institution partnered with the vendor Velvet to design and produce an immersive multimedia and environmental exhibition.
Velvet developed a multi-sensory, three-room experience that included a detailed scale model of the museum's first building, a monochrome environment with specialized lighting, and a silent-film-style animation reconstructed from archival materials. The solution successfully brought the museum's lost history to life, culminating in a well-attended celebration that united curators, staff, and maritime enthusiasts. The project's impact was a heartfelt tribute that allowed visitors to step into history rather than just observe it.
