A VelocityEHS Case Study
Ward Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed Level IV trauma center serving Western Texas since the 1950s, with about 100 staff members who often perform multiple roles. When Sara Davy assumed responsibility for chemical and safety management in 2015, the hospital relied on paper binders for safety data sheets, had no centralized process to ensure current SDS versions, and needed a more efficient way to manage hundreds of chemicals across clinical, cleaning, lab, and facility systems.
In March 2016 Ward adopted VelocityEHS Chemical Management, giving staff 24/7 access to a centralized SDS library and tools to catalog inventory, run NFPA reports, and scan containers. The system eliminated manual SDS updates, smoothed the GHS transition, reliably located SDSs for the hospital’s diverse chemical profile (including ~200 lab chemicals), saved significant staff time, and proved user-friendly with responsive customer support.
