Metrobus Gets Prepared for Health Canada’s GHS Alignment

Metrobus, the public transit system for St. John’s and Mt. Pearl (serving ~3 million riders a year with buses running 21 hours a day), needed a reliable way to manage roughly 200 chemicals used in fleet maintenance while protecting riders and staff and meeting Health Canada’s WHMIS/GHS requirements. The scale of operations and rapid regulatory changes made maintaining safety data sheets (SDSs) and ensuring compliance a major operational challenge.

Since 2013 Metrobus has used VelocityEHS Chemical Management to centralize an up-to-date SDS library, enable mobile and 24/7 access, simplify adding new products, and retrieve supplier SDSs when needed. The solution saved significant time, streamlined workflows for mechanics and support crews, sped employee training, and left Metrobus confident and prepared for GHS alignment—so much so that other municipal services began to take notice.
