Leader in eBook Circulation Stays Wired to Safety With VelocityEHS

King County Library System (KCLS), a public library network of 48 locations serving over 10 million visitors and a leader in eBook circulation, struggled with decentralized, paper-based safety data sheet (SDS) management. Maintaining and updating physical binders across branches—combined with diverse, sometimes specialized chemicals used in graphics, book repair and maintenance—made record retention, oversight, and consistent access difficult.

KCLS adopted VelocityEHS Chemical Management, moving SDSs to a centralized, cloud-based eBinder with automatic updates and mobile access. The change eliminated manual searching and binder updates, saved significant staff time, improved compliance and chemical oversight, and increased staff awareness of SDS roles—while the upcoming mobile scanning app promises further inventory efficiency.
