Case Study: Komatsu achieves global EHS standardization and unified safety management with VelocityEHS

A VelocityEHS Case Study

Preview of the Komatsu Case Study

Driving Global Adoption of EHS Software

Komatsu Mining Corporation (KMC), the mining division of Komatsu operating in 142 countries, needed to standardize and centralize its environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs after growth and acquisitions like Joy Global. The company faced the challenge of unifying incident management, risk assessments, audits and reporting across diverse regions while driving global adoption and consistent leading/lagging indicators.

KMC implemented VelocityEHS as a single, centralized solution—largely out-of-the-box with some custom reports (including Global Safety Performance and Safety Cross) and eight integrated modules—to align policy, reporting and training worldwide. Backed by leadership-driven KPIs and close customer success support, the rollout produced strong adoption and measurable impact: roughly 19,000 safety observations and 10,000 hazard IDs at 170 locations, improving visibility, consistency and progress toward a global “zero harm” goal.
