What if you could reduce costs and increase reliability through electric school buses

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) sought to overcome the high upfront cost and lack of operational data for electric school buses, which are cleaner for children and the environment than diesel alternatives. They engaged VEIC to analyze the potential for reducing emissions and operating costs through a pilot program.

VEIC implemented and managed a one-year pilot program to compare the performance of electric and diesel buses across three school districts. The study found that with managed charging and dedicated training, electric buses could be more cost-effective to operate than diesel buses, reducing annual operating costs and cutting greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 50%.
