A VEIC Case Study
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) faced the challenge of transforming the state's heat pump market to meet ambitious greenhouse gas reduction goals. To achieve a full-scale shift from fossil fuel systems, the CPUC enlisted VEIC as part of the TECH Clean California initiative to design and implement a comprehensive market transformation strategy.
VEIC administered two key components: a series of six regional pilot programs testing innovative adoption strategies and a Quick Start Grant program funding external projects. In its first year, this effort led to the installation of over 10,000 heat pump systems, projected to cut emissions by 3,359 metric tons. VEIC's work also distributed $2 million in grants to overcome adoption barriers, with a focus on equitable solutions for underserved communities.
