Case Study: Second Harvest of Silicon Valley cuts energy costs and fossil fuel use with VEIC

A VEIC Case Study

Second Harvest of Silicon Valley saves up to $1 million annually with VEIC

Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, a food bank serving California's San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, faced rising energy and diesel costs for its refrigeration and delivery fleet operations. The organization needed to reduce its fossil fuel use and operating expenses to better serve its community. They turned to VEIC for a comprehensive energy solution.

VEIC developed a plan that integrated a 2.8 MW solar-plus-battery storage system, fleet electrification, and a smart controls program. This coordinated system is expected to lower the food bank's annual operating costs by up to $1 million, allowing more resources to be directed toward its mission. The solution also includes right-sized infrastructure that saved hundreds of thousands in upfront capital costs and will phase in fully solar-powered delivery trailers.
