Case Study: Hawaiʻi Energy advances 100% renewable energy with VEIC

A VEIC Case Study

Hawaiʻi Energy helps cut electricity demand by 514.56 GWh with VEIC

VEIC partnered with Hawaiʻi Energy, the state's energy efficiency program, to help Hawaiʻi meet its goal of 100% renewable electricity by 2045. The challenge was urgent, as the closure of the state's last coal plant, which provided a significant portion of Oʻahu's power, threatened to create an electricity generation shortfall due to delays in new renewable projects.

VEIC designed and deployed a diverse portfolio of innovative programs for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. These solutions included demand-side management, grid-interactive water heaters, battery storage pilots, and energy efficiency "treasure hunts." As a result of this partnership, the programs are estimated to reduce electricity demand by over 514 gigawatt-hours, enough to power nearly 46,000 homes for a year, demonstrating VEIC's significant impact on Hawaiʻi's clean energy transition.
