Case Study: Efficiency Vermont expands affordable clean energy access for income-qualified households with VEIC

A VEIC Case Study

Efficiency Vermont expands clean energy access with VEIC’s $25M program

Efficiency Vermont, an energy efficiency utility managed by VEIC, faced the challenge of enabling low- to moderate-income households to adopt clean energy solutions. Despite available funding, these residents encountered financial roadblocks from necessary home repairs and equipment upgrades, which prevented them from accessing energy-saving programs.

VEIC, through Efficiency Vermont, implemented a solution by creatively layering federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act. They expanded programming to include weatherization rebates, virtual home energy visits for technical assistance, and critical home and electrical system repairs. This holistic approach removed key barriers, allowing VEIC to effectively disperse funds, reach more customers, and pave the way for significant energy savings and home electrification for income-qualified households.
