Case Study: American Municipal Power lowers grid costs and demand with VEIC’s grid-integrated heat pump water heater guidebook

A VEIC Case Study

American Municipal Power, Inc. lowers grid demand with VEIC's HPWH guidebook and calculator

VEIC collaborated with American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) to address the challenge of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from buildings without overloading the electrical grid. As electrification increases demand, utilities needed a way to manage new load patterns and avoid high peak demand costs.

The solution involved VEIC co-developing a Grid-Connected Heat Pump Water Heater Guidebook and a calculator tool. These resources help utilities design programs that use grid-interactive water heaters to lower customer costs, reduce peak demand, and encourage beneficial electrification, maximizing value for both the utility and its customers.
