Case Study: KAGes achieves maximum patient-data availability and reduced administration effort with Veeam Backup & Replication

A Veeam Case Study

Preview of the KAGes Case Study

With Veeam, KAGes ensures maximum availability of patient data and reduces administration effort

The Steiermärkische Krankenanstaltengesellschaft (KAGes) is one of Europe’s largest healthcare providers, with 18,000+ employees across 26 locations and hundreds of thousands of inpatient and outpatient treatments annually. As digital clinical workflows expanded, KAGes faced rapidly growing numbers of applications and more than a thousand physical and virtual servers, creating an urgent need for a scalable backup strategy to ensure continuous availability and integrity of patient data while reducing administrative burden.

KAGes selected Veeam Backup & Replication with Veeam Agents after testing several solutions; the centralized platform backs up, replicates and restores all workloads, enables granular recoveries (e.g., Exchange/AD items), and uses Instant VM Recovery and storage-snapshot integration for fast, low-impact restores. The result: higher application availability, simplified administration, lower running costs, regular remote replication for disaster recovery, and the ability to meet or exceed RTO/RPO goals.
