A Veeam Case Study
V.Pharma is a Belgian cooperative of about 40 pharmacies and six paramedical stores serving more than 135,000 customers in the Liège province. Its headquarters acts as a central warehouse and IT hub that supplies 95% of member pharmacies and runs an e‑commerce site, so uninterrupted access to logistics and transactional data is critical; any downtime would disrupt medicine distribution and retail operations. To protect against ransomware and other incidents, V.Pharma follows a 3‑2‑1 backup strategy and needed a more scalable, easy‑to‑manage secondary storage solution.
The cooperative kept Veeam Backup & Replication and added Quantum DXi deduplication storage, increasing backup capacity from 4TB to 11TB and leveraging Veeam Data Mover for faster transfers. The combined solution cut overall backup times by about 30% (full weekend backups now finish by 9 a.m.), lowered support costs by retaining existing Veeam licenses, and delivered a more stable environment protecting roughly 10TB of critical data—ensuring ERP continuity, SQL database recoverability, and uninterrupted access to the e‑commerce site so customers can always purchase needed medicines.
