A Veeam Case Study
Veiligheidsregio Noord- en Oost-Gelderland (VNOG) is the Dutch regional emergency service responsible for protecting about 870,000 citizens. When a ransomware attack hit its internal IT — which relied on legacy Microsoft backups and slow hardware — VNOG risked lengthy outages at a time when digital systems must be available 24/7 to support life‑critical decisions.
Working with Veeam and partner it2grow, VNOG deployed Veeam Availability Suite and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, adopted the 3-2-1-1-0 rule and implemented immutable remote copies. The result: nightly protection of 17 TB across 130 VMs, full restores cut from weeks to about 12 hours, near‑instant recovery from accidental deletions, and a materially stronger cyber‑resilience posture that supports its cloud‑first roadmap.
