A Veeam Case Study
Vicinity Centres, one of Australia’s leading retail property groups with 57 assets including Chadstone and the Queen Victoria Building, moved to a hybrid multi-cloud IT model (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and on-premises) to gain agility and scalability. With a small Platform team supporting over a thousand users and regulatory data‑retention requirements, the company needed a single, easy-to-manage data protection solution that would deliver data freedom and seamless integration across its expanding environment.
Vicinity consolidated on Veeam (Veeam Data Platform — Advanced and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365), building on 12 years of prior Veeam use to protect VMs, cloud workloads and roughly 100 TB of Microsoft 365 data. The consolidation delivered a central point of control, faster restores, and responsive support — cutting management time by more than 10 hours per week (now about an hour a day for one staffer), simplifying recovery tasks, and requiring virtually no training for new users.
