Veeam’s technology helps Czech Technical University in Prague to ensure the availability of key systems

Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT), one of Europe’s largest technical universities serving ~20,000 students and 5,000 staff, faced increasing pressure to keep critical systems—authentication, mail, study systems and research platforms—available 24/7 across a data centre with 10 physical nodes, 222 VMs and more than 70 TB of data. The university’s legacy backup solution struggled with compatibility, slow recovery, and time-consuming management, putting academic and research activities at risk.

ČVUT deployed Veeam Availability Suite with Veeam agents, implemented rapidly with a Veeam-certified partner and in-house IT staff, to centralize and streamline backups across Hyper-V and VMware environments. The new solution covers 70+ TB and thousands of users, simplified administration, cut operating costs by about 50% versus competitors, and reduced RTOs/RPOs by roughly half—delivering faster recoveries and higher confidence in system availability.
