Case Study: Evergy achieves faster, more reliable data protection for power production with Veeam Backup & Replication

A Veeam Case Study

Veeam’s data protection helps fuel Evergy’s power production

Evergy, a regional utility serving 1.6 million customers across Kansas and Missouri, needed more reliable, streamlined data protection to support power production and customer service. Legacy backup tools were time-consuming, hardware-dependent and lacked image-level backups, forcing IT staff to spend roughly 20 hours weekly on backup management while meeting strict reliability and regulatory requirements (SOX and DOE Part 810).

Evergy consolidated to Veeam Backup & Replication, which now protects 800 TB across 2,100 virtual and 200 physical machines to on- and off-prem Infinidat storage. Veeam’s hardware-agnostic, image-level backups deliver faster recoveries (minutes, not hours), automated management that saves ~20 hours per week, encryption and access controls for compliance, and future-ready cloud archival options—giving Evergy greater resilience and operational efficiency.
