A Veeam Case Study
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, Canada's largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital, needed to guarantee 24x7 access to applications and data for physicians and staff. After trying three backup products, slow and unreliable recovery of Microsoft Hyper‑V VMs — combined with rapid data growth (up to 25% annually) driven by SharePoint and public web content — left CAMH vulnerable to downtime and unable to meet audit, upgrade and web‑development requirements.
CAMH implemented Veeam Backup & Replication to provide reliable backups and fast recovery, using onsite backups of 10 TB across 108 Hyper‑V VMs and offsite replication to Nimble arrays. Veeam’s Virtual Lab lets CAMH test patches and upgrades safely, and deduplication/compression reduces replica storage by about 10x. The result: restorations in minutes, simplified compliance and audits, more agile upgrades and web development, and consistent 24x7 availability for patient‑centered care.
