A Veeam Case Study
Avebe, a global manufacturer of potato starch and protein, runs an international sales and distribution network on a mission-critical manufacturing execution system (MES) that must operate 24/7/365. Before virtualising the MES, Avebe needed a fast, reliable backup and recovery solution because even a single day of downtime at one facility could cost the business roughly $100,000 and disrupt production and customer SLAs.
Avebe deployed Veeam Backup & Replication in its VMware vSphere environment, protecting about 250 VMs and using Veeam’s Direct Restore to Microsoft Azure for disaster recovery. When an update prevented the MES from restarting, Avebe restored the system in minutes with Veeam, avoided missed deliveries and penalties, and achieved continuous availability that supports its digital transformation and cloud-based DR strategy.
