A Veeam Case Study
The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) built AzEDS, a cloud-first data system that processes millions of daily transactions and helps calculate $6.5 billion in annual school funding, but faced slow, complicated backups because legacy tools weren’t Azure‑friendly. ADE also needed long-term retention and full control of Microsoft Office 365 data to meet state public‑records law, a requirement unmet by Microsoft’s default 30‑day deletion policy.
ADE deployed Veeam Cloud Data Management (Veeam Availability Suite, Veeam Agent for Windows and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365) to protect AzEDS in Azure, on‑premises workloads and Office 365 services. The result: a single pane of glass for management, protection of 16 TB across 319 VMs plus Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams, a 99% faster recovery time with Instant VM Recovery and Direct Restore to Azure, legal‑compliance access to O365 data, portable licensing and options for immutable backups.
