A Veeam Case Study
Wollondilly Shire Council, a rapidly growing local government region southwest of Sydney, needed to ensure 24x7 availability of its IT systems to support emergency services, planning and construction as its population and data needs expand (population expected to triple and data to quadruple). The small but critical IT environment had to deliver mobile access to mapping and property records at all times, and downtime during a physical emergency was unacceptable.
The council virtualized its infrastructure with VMware and deployed Veeam Backup & Replication, using features like Instant VM Recovery, Veeam Explorer, offsite replication and tape copies with built‑in deduplication and compression. When a full VM cluster corruption occurred, Veeam restored systems from backups and replicas with minimal downtime; results include proven 24x7 availability, scalable support for growing data volumes, efficient backup storage use and streamlined disaster recovery.
