Veeam Helps Law Firms Merge with No Downtime, No Data Loss and No Impact on Revenue

Charles Russell Speechlys is a London-headquartered law firm formed by the 2014 merger of Charles Russell and Speechly Bircham, with more than 1,000 employees and hundreds of VMware VMs supporting critical systems (Exchange, SQL, InterAction, BigHand, WorkSite). The merger required moving hundreds of VMs from a European data centre to the UK under a tight deadline, with a top priority to avoid data corruption, loss, downtime and the consequent revenue and compliance risks for the firm.

Using Veeam Availability Suite (with partner OISG), the IT team replicated VMs in controlled batches and performed failovers over several weekends, completing the migration with no downtime or data loss and finishing three weeks ahead of schedule. Today Veeam protects 800 VMs (130 TB) to ExaGrid appliances, enables fast restores with Veeam Explorer tools, provides storage-agnostic monitoring and capacity planning, and delivers 24x7 availability that preserved revenue and simplified regulatory compliance.
