A Veeam Case Study
Lowanna College is a secondary school in Gippsland, Australia, serving about 1,000 students and running a largely virtualised learning environment. As the school moved to digital-first teaching, its IT team needed reliable, fast recovery of critical systems—library services, student records and photos, the work‑experience database, and a campus-wide printing service—after previous backup software proved difficult to manage and maintain.
The college deployed Veeam (Essentials Standard on Hyper-V) with a standalone backup server, a secondary replication server on campus and a cluster for rapid failover. The solution delivered a “set-up-and-forget” experience, 100% backup success, near-instant VM restores (resolving a printer outage in about three minutes), and easy recovery of Office 365/OneDrive data—improving uptime, saving IT time, and helping ensure student safety while on work experience.
