Veeam Earns an A in Data Protection and Affordability

Brentwood School, a UK independent school supporting 1,800 users and records for over 1,500 students, faced growing pain as it virtualised its infrastructure (about 80% virtualised with 49 VMs). The school’s legacy backup tool—designed for physical servers—required per‑VM agents, lengthy per‑server work, extra annual agent fees and still failed to reliably protect Exchange, SQL Server and Server 2008 R2. The IT team needed a VMware‑focused, easy-to-use, cost‑effective backup solution and engaged System Professional, a Veeam partner, for recommendations.

They deployed Veeam Backup & Replication, which eliminated agents, moved to flat per‑processor licensing and delivered much faster backups and restores. Backup capacity grew from 2.5 TB to 10 TB and backup volume increased fivefold; Instant VM Recovery cut VM restore times from up to two days to minutes; and file‑level recovery now provides searchable 100‑day copies. The result: predictable lower operating costs, reliable protection for mission‑critical apps and faster, more efficient recovery.
