A1 Telekom Austria, a leading communications and e-health infrastructure provider, operates the DaMe medical data network used by thousands of healthcare facilities across Austria to exchange patient information. As digital healthcare services expanded, many hospitals, practices and labs lacked reliable, easy-to-manage backups; A1’s initial backup solution became complex to operate and could not meet the strict security and availability requirements for sensitive patient data.

A1 replaced the legacy stack with Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Cloud Connect and the Veeam Service Provider Console to deliver automated, end-to-end encrypted backups to A1’s data center, centralized management, and fast recovery or self-service restore options. The new service improved data protection and regulatory compliance, shortened recovery times, reduced operational effort and costs for A1, and generated strong positive feedback from customers.
